What is portable appliance testing?

Portable appliance testing (PAT) is the term used to describe the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use.

How Frequently do I need to test my Electrical Appliances?

The frequency of inspection and testing depends upon the type of equipment and the environment it is used in. For example, an appliance used on a construction site will require more testing than a hotel bedroom lamp.

Do I need to keep records an label appliances

There is no legal requirement to keep records but it can be a useful management tool and equipment maintenance tool.

I run an Audio & Lighting hire company, how often should I test the equipment?

It is strongly recommend that equipment hire companies test equipment before even hire period.
